This ongoing one-on-one tutoring session will help students who are struggling with phonics and reading comprehension. This science of reading-based tutoring sessions will help bridge the gaps and provide your students with the instruction and targets they need to succeed in reading. This class will follow a systematic scope and sequence and will include these drills and practice: Visual Drills- Match to correct picture to the sentence. Decoding Drill- Students will practice saying the beginning sounds in letters. Sentence Level Drills- Students will fill in the blank using decodable words. Blending Drills- Students will decode and blend words. HFW Drills- Students will practice reading High Frequency Words. Decodable Passages with Comprehension Questions-Students will read short passage and answer comprehension question. I have had the wonderful privilege of teaching/ tutoring students in the area of phonics (Science of Reading) reading comprehension, ELA, and ESL. I have taught students of all ages, and academic skill levels, both online and in regular classroom settings. I believe that teaching should be fun and memorable. I love the challenge of making reading animated, engaging, and exciting, as it makes students want to learn. Students know when a teacher is passionate about teaching, and that passion influences them to enjoy learning. I have found that positive reinforcement, encouragement, and affirmation really give students the confidence that they need to step out and learn new skills and concepts. I am a life-long learner, and it is my desire to inspire that same passion and curiosity for learning in my students. I look forward to seeing you in my classroom.
