Class Experience

Reading - I will continue reading instruction. I will continue to teach phonics and continue to introduce sight words. She is reading short and long vowel words and most of 2nd grade sight words. We are reading Wayside School is Falling Down daily. I also use IXL and Raz-Kids to support and make sure the skills are generalized.

Math - We are working on addition with regrouping and subtraction with borrowing. I will use the white board to teach and have her demonstrate her understanding. Then, she will practice on IXL. I will demonstrate counting backwards by 5's from 50 and then 100. We will do this together. And, finally, she will count backwards by 5's from 100. I will use the white board and some pages I have created to compare and order number to 1000. I will use IXL to study patterns and choosing what would be next.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have taught all of my adult life. I have taught in many mediums - traditional classrooms, virtual classrooms, and a tutoring business which I established and ran for 25 years. I love teaching and cherish the times I witness their learning. I find that the times I spend with children are some of my most precious times.
I love teaching children everything. I want to teach basic math and reading and help students that may need more instruction and/or practice. However, I am looking forward to also teaching some other courses - some math tricks, identifying emotions, and how to best act from them. I have 3 daughters and 5 grandkids that I love unconditionally. I live in Florida and enjoy having the Atlantic so close.
My teaching is based on small steps and positive experiences. Those 2 items promote high self-confidence and academic success.
I am honored to work with your children and be a part of helping them reach their academic potential.
