We will be learning about word families. To begin class, Teacher Tommy will introduce himself. As a class we will go over our word family for the class. For Example, if our word family is "ig" the teacher will write "ig" on their whiteboard and practice the "ig" sound. Then, we will start to add a constant sound before each word family such as "b" and now we made the word "big" on the teacher's whiteboard. After this, we would go through an interactive activity on Teacher Tommy's computer screen that includes picking pictures that use our word family sound or practice spelling words that include our word family sound.
At the very end of class, the teacher will ask each student to get their piece of paper and writing tool. The teacher will read aloud a word family term that was learned in class and students will practice spelling the word. Each student will hold up their answer to see if they were correct. The teacher will fix any mistakes if needed.
I will teach for 55 minutes. I try to use technology in my class to keep my students engaged and to help them participate in class. I will use clipart kid friendly pictures to help go with each word association. Students will get to interact and participate for more than 50 minutes of the lesson.
