During this one time class, we will read a Mo Willems story from the Piggie & Elephant series. Students will actively participate reading aloud and providing a voice for these two lovable characters, Piggie & Elephant. Students will have opportunities to read and reread the text to improve both fluency and prosody (the stress and intonation on words). After students complete the reading of the book, we will discuss the characters, the setting,  the plot, and other comprehension questions. Students will have a chance to share how the story we read together is related to their own lives. This class is designed for first graders, but open to younger and older students reading at or near the 1st grade level. Students must be able to read basic sight words and simple words.
