LEARNING SESSIONS and LITERACY BUNDLES
We will read one short story; the story will be screen shared and annotated during the lesson. In addition, students will experience a combination of direct instruction, note-taking, discussion, reading, writing, vocabulary, and the application of skills. Students can expect independent and group interactions with the teacher and classmates. Anything that is not completed during the live session becomes optional homework.
***Please note that any writing in this course is very MINIMAL and in the form of short answer literary responses (not essays).
***This is NOT a formal writing course with explicit writing and grammar instruction.

ZOOM Chatbox
~ The ZOOM chatbox is a vital tool in this class and helps me stay in touch with all of the learners during class. I keep the chatbox on a private setting; the learners are unable to communicate with each other through the chatbox.

Your end-of-class literacy bundle will include the following:
~ An annotated copy of the short story.
~ A vocabulary worksheet.
~ Reading comprehension questions; multiple-choice and writing prompt (short answer).
~ Links to any related videos and games; may vary between teacher-created documents, YouTube, Nearpod, and Kahoot!

***Note: the literacy bundle will be provided at THE END of class in the Outschool Classroom (the page where the learner clicks to join the live session). After class, the learners will see a post with a summary of the lesson, the annotated copy of the passage used during the lesson, your literacy bundle, and access to the video recorded during the live ZOOM lesson. IMPORTANT: You must attend and be verified during class. Otherwise, you will not have access to the class video—no refunds for missed classes.

***Disclaimer; I have always made it a point to share my live ZOOM videos. However, I have the right to withhold a live ZOOM video. This will be done if inappropriate behavior and language occur during my class; I will do everything possible to protect my learners and parents from exposure to harmful situations.
