In this ongoing class, learners will practice reading comprehension skills. Each week will focus on a different skill: Analyze Character, Author's Purpose (Entertain), Author's Purpose (Inform), Cause and Effect, Classify Information, Compare and Contrast, Fact or Opinion, Main Idea and Details, Make Inferences and Draw Conclusions, Problem and Solution, Sequence of Events. During each class I will introduce the comprehension skill for the week. Students will take turns reading a passage projected on screen in class. Together we will apply the week's skill on the passage read. During the last part of class, students will be directed to apply the skills learned in class to an independent practice passage. The independent practice passage will be provided in the classroom as a printable file. I graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences. I have taught children for over 15 years. My background includes teaching EFL online to learners aged 4-16 as well as teaching preschool.
I live near Seattle, Washington with my husband and two children. We also have a Siberian Husky, two tuxedo cats, two ferrets, a leopard gecko and a crested gecko.
