Reading Comprehension Assessment (Gr. 4-8)

Wondering if your child is reading and comprehending on grade level? 

In this one-time course, students will meet with a certified Reading Specialist and English teacher for a reading comprehension check-in. 

The instructor will give an informal reading assessment to determine student’s reading level (by grade). Learners will read-aloud from short fiction passages and then recall information about the work verbally. 

Before the class
*Please answer the questions on the document in the classroom. You can message the answers to the instructor or upload a copy of the attachment. 
**For an accurate informal reading assessment, it is imperative that the instructor receives a response to the specific questions about the learner. 

After the class
*Instructor will provide a write-up with the findings of the informal reading assessment within 72 business hours. 
The write-up will include:
-Words per minute (WPM)
-Word recognition accuracy
-Fluency
-Reading comprehension
*A copy of 10 Reading Comprehension Tips written by the course instructor. This information was published in the September '22 issue of Dystinct Magazine.
