This on-going class is taught by certified teachers and meets once a week to practice, BOTH, a common reading comprehension skill and then we use that same skill for writing and brainstorm on an organizer to plan to write a short essay.

US Grade 3 - 5
This 45 minute class will be taught focusing on one literacy skill for reading comprehension as well as practicing that skill with their writing. The reason reading and writing should be taught together is so that the reading comprehension skill is reinforced in their writing when students get a chance to practice that same reading skill right in the moment and become the author. Students will receive reading comprehension lessons focusing on main idea, summary, inferencing, cause/effect and many more. Check the literacy calendar above. Students will receive guidance in planning and organizing their writing plan for opinion, persuasive, informative, personal narratives, and many other genres. Check the literacy calendar above.
All teachers are certified elementary teachers with a minimum of ten years of certified teaching experience. Please see each teacher's profile for specific teaching skills.
