Beginner Level
This class will help the students taking it gain a solid foundation in: letter sounds, word building, and decodable reading. I will start each session with phonemic awareness drills including letter sounds, letter identification, blending letter sounds, and high-frequency words. Then, I will introduce the topics for the weeks lesson, this will include any blending patterns that will need to be used that day, fluency drills, and a review of words specific to the book being read that day, along with practicing the high-frequency words in the book. After that, we will read the decodable text, and work on brainstorming and answering comprehension questions afterward about the decodable text. I will use a mixture of slides, games, and projecting paper materials I physically have onto my screen for the students to read from.
