We will be working on Fry's 5th 100 Sight Words, Y as a Vowel, QU, CK, IND, ILD, OLD, and OST. We will be reading at Guided Reading Levels K-M depending on the student's reading level during assessment. Lesson 1: 1. Fry's Sight Words 501-510 (Depending on Student level, we may cover more.) 2. Vowel Pattern - Y as a Vowel. (Long I as in CRY) - Sound cards and tiles will be incorporated to facilitate multisensory learning. 3. Reading books to focus on Sight Words and phonics...

Sharon Frazier-Verpooten has been teaching for over 30 years and knows how to get the best out of her students. She has an elementary teaching credential, a bachelor’s degree in Music Education, and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Sharon is a leader and trainer in schools and districts throughout the United States. She is a certified Reading Interventionist, Struggling Reader Specialist, and Music Specialist. Her training in many strategies to maximize student achievement, especially in Reader’s and Writer’s workshop, Gifted and Talented Education, and the AVID college readiness program makes her an invaluable asset to any educational program. Sharon conducts many workshops for other teachers and parents on topics such as The Music and Reading Connection, GATE, AVID, Computer Using Educators, and Social Emotional Learning.
