US Grade Kindergarten
This class will begin by reviewing letter sounds and introducing CVC blends. We will learn to read and spell kindergarten sight words and begin reading beginner books and stories together. Each Monday we will begin with an introduction to the weekly material. Tuesday, we will have a quick review, then begin reading short sentences. Wednesday and Thursday, we will complete the reading assignment. For the first four weeks, we will read short stories together. For the last four weeks, we will focus on reading beginner books. Here is an outline of what letters and sight words we will be learning/reviewing. * Week 1: Letters "Aa, Mm, Rr, Ss, Dd, Yy" Sight Words "I, can, we, the, at" Week 2: Letters "Bb, Cc, Ii, Tt, Ll" Sight Words "am, it, up, no, yes" Week 3: Letters "Ff, Oo, Nn, Pp, Gg, Zz" Sight words "like, a, see, go, in" Week 4: Letters "Ee, Hh, Jj, Kk, Vv" Sight words "of, us, by, eat, was" Week 5: Letters "Qq, Uu, Ww, Xx," Sight words " to, have, is, play, come" Week 6: Review All Letters and Sight words Week 7: Sight words "on, be, big, one, has" Week 8: Sight words " are, for, you, this, here" Week 9: Sight words " she, run, off, so, want" Week 10: Sight words "do, and, what, little, his" Week 11: Sight words "two, love, but, all, saw" Week 12: Final Review and Assessment Week: Final Review and Assessment will cover letters, sight words, CVC words, and short sentences. For the assessment, we will break out into individual rooms.** Each day your child will need to complete their practice worksheets and read for 10 minutes.
