What's included

Meets on Demand
schedule meetings as needed
30 mins
per session
Teacher support
Homework
1 hour per week. Student will be offered assignments as practice.
Assessment
An assessment will be given in the first class and at the 10th session. These assessments will guide us in developing writing goals for our students. The assessment will allow us to see the growth between session 1 writing and session 10 writing. I do NOT complete a one time assessment to determine your child's grade level ability. One assessment does not reveal enough information about their skills. It does, however give us a great starting point to guide future writings.

Class Experience

This is a READING TUTOR 1 ON 1 SESSION FOR STUDENTS AGES 4- 9 or US Student Grades PRE-K, KINDERGARTEN, FIRST GRADE, AND SECOND GRADE STUDENTS. THIS IS FOR NONREADERS AND BEGGINNING READERS.

I believe Learning Environments Accelerate Foundations, LEAF, and aim to stregthen that reading foundation with your learner.

I teach ENGLISH LANUAGE ARTS and ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE so please inform me of your child's English speaking level if they are ESL students.

🗣FIRST THING YOU DO:
BEFORE the very first sessions students will choose an main focus that they would like to start from.  This is just where we begin. You will be able to adjust as needed.  Choose from one of the following;

 Letters and Phonics
 Sight Words and Alphabet Club
 Reading Comprehension
 First Exposure to Kindergarten
 Complete Kindergarten Conversion
 Writing Short Sentences
 Beginning Spelling
 Grammar

🗣HOW WE BEGIN:

Students will sign up for the first session. Comment to me which focus you have chosen.
If your child is also an esl learner, please inform me of his/ her level of english as well. Students will be assessed at the first Tutoring session and parents will complete and return a Parent Questionare to determine the specific need of the student. Please have Google Forms so I can share this document with you.

🗣NEXT:

Personal goals will be established and 1 on 1 tutoring will commence. We will focus on meeting these individual goals for each student.

🗣THEN:
Individual Tutoring Sessions will begin and are geared toward individual students. We use developmentally appropriate techniques and guides to move students towards their goals. At time we review presentations, practice writing, play games, or reinforce skills through quizzes.

Sessions are 30 minutes long which allow for time to work together on objectives. I do offer extended sessions to some students who need that extra push but students must be assessed first in this course. If you are interested in extended sessions, feel free to comment on the first questionare.

🗣FINALLY:

By session 6 I will reassess students to establish growth. At this time we are able to develop new goals and objective for the student or add them to a course in which they can continue to stregthen their reading skills, techniques, or strategies. Students will be gently guided to new skills of reading or writing.

 ❤️COURSES:
STUDENTS AGES 4-9 SHOULD TAKE A LOOK AT THESE CLASSES. They are all LEAF classes and designed for new readers. These courses will focus on skills needed to accelerate your reading growth.

I have a degree in Education and experience teaching elementary and middle school students. My classes are centered around English Language Arts and I have experience teaching ESL students. I am Tosel and TEFL certified.

Hello, I am Ms Velvet.

ABOUT ME: As a teacher I believe that we should provide students with the skills and opportunity to learn and grow. I think that students are more apt to care what you know, when they know that you care and I hope that I live that philosophy out in my classroom. I am excited about teaching and passionate to guide students learning.

Personally, I absolutely love reading. There is a book by Dr Suess that really does so much more than entertain. It is called " Oh, the Places You Will Go." This book truly sets people of all ages up for success! While there are many quotes I could pull from this fabulous writing, my favorite is “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” - This quote emphasizes the idea of self-direction and the ability to choose your own path. I hope my guidance leads others to develop the confidence to choose the right path for them.

WHAT MAKES ME QUALIFIED: I am an experienced teacher in the classroom setting. I have experience online as well. I started teaching virtually with my local school district about 4 years ago, in the Southern USA. Now, I'm teaching virtually on outschool, to students all over the world.

I currently teach middle school classes as well as upper elementary classes. My classes are centered on English Language Arts and ESL. I teach ELA Homeschool, Writing, Grammar, Spelling, Reading, Speaking, Vocabulary, Poetry, Literature, English as a Second Language, and more.

I have multiple degrees in Education. I am completing my certification as a registered IEW Writing Instructor. I am also certified in TOSEL and TEFL as an ESL Instructor. As you can probably see, Im a firm believer in continued education practices.

MESSAGE ME: For questions or comments regarding my class offers, curriculum, and more, please message me. I am here to ensure that your child has a great experience on outschool.

REVIEW MY CLASS: Being a newer teacher on outschool, I do not yet have many reviews. You can change that for me. Take a class with me and let me know what you think. Do you like my style, how I am with the students, what I teach? Are there things that you would like to see in our virtual classroom? Let's work together to grow our learners knowledge and build up each other's lives.
