Poetry gets a bad rap sometimes. Let's change that in this fun class all about poetry! Poetry is fun, serious, goofy, deep, remarkable, scary, uplifting, depressing, thought-provoking, comforting, and so much more. There's a reason why it is always relevant. During this class, we will read, discover, and discuss poetry from poets throughout the ages. Some of the poets whose work we will read include: Robert Frost, Sylvia Plath, Emily Dickinson, Langston Hughes, Allen Ginsberg, Maya Angelou, T.S. Eliot, Walt Whitman, William Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, Gwendolyn Brooks, John Keats, William Butler Yeats, William Wordsworth, Ezra Pound, etc. Learners will be encouraged to bring their favorite poems to class to share. During class, we will read the poems and discuss it. We will look at the structure, analyze the literary devices used, and examine the style of the author.
