With the Jan Brett book The Three Little Dassies, students will listen, choral read, and take turns reading character parts. Throughout the book we will explore vocabulary, making predictions, connecting the text to other texts and connecting the story to the world. 
I try to keep learning environments fun and engaging, so I create slide presentations with plenty of visuals when teaching online. I try to set it up in a bit of a game format to keep kids interested. 
Students don't need any background knowledge, but should be reading at or above a first grade level.
