Reader's Theater is a fun, one day experience where learners learn to read and perform [act out] brief scripts, dress in character [or not]. Learners integrate thinking, reading, writing, listening and speaking through dramatic performances performed in a fun classroom environment. Readers' Theater is a reading activity that involves students reading a script out loud in a small group. Don't worry — NO memorization is needed; just read the script and have fun. Learners are involved in reading out loud. In Reader's Theater, learners “perform” by reading scripts created from grade-level books or stories. Learners will learn stage terms, increase reading skills, vocabulary, fluency which includes accuracy, pace & expression and develop stage presence and confidence. This is where learners combine reading practice and having fun. There are five elements to Reader's Theater that learners will enjoy: 📜 A peppy dialogue 📜 A little action 📜 Laugh-out-loud parts 📜 Lively narration 📜Enough roles for everyone Reader's Theater is fun for all. Who doesn't love a good script. As a young learner myself, I participated in many plays. As a Teacher, I used Reader's Theater as a way to get my students involved in reading [a script], performing for their classmates, eventually the entire school and their parents. That's how much my students love Reader's Theater and I love teaching it. It made reading less laborious and a much more enjoyable experience.
Here on Outschool, I want to give learners that same experience. That's why I teach Reader's Theater for a Day.
