Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 4
Folktales are a vital part of the world's traditional literature. Folktales were originally passed orally from one generation to the next, sometimes with embellishments. They reflect human beliefs, concerns and fantasies. Usually, the characters are human, or animals with human traits. They often embark on quests. Typically, good conquers evil and positive qualities are rewarded, and foolishness and greed are punished. In this ongoing class, students will share their acting, reading, and comprehension skills as we read folk tales from around the world. During class, the roles will be chosen, we will read the tale, then discuss some comprehension questions. An extension activity will be sent after each lesson ( will be optional for students to complete). I will encourage and help students to try different voices for different characters and show them how to create meaning by changing tempo, pitch, pace and accent. We will practice using different facial expressions to show emotions. There will be some background information given before the reading. These will recycle from the beginning after these 10 are finished
