Class Experience

The first tutoring session will allow me to get to know the student and assess their literacy needs.  The following classes will be used to target in individual literacy needs of the student.  Classes could contain word work, vocabulary practice, handwriting practice, pre-writing/writing skills, and/or reading comprehension skills.

I try to use a multi-sensory approach to learning, which allows students to learn in a way that is best for them. 
 Activities might include
*full-body spelling
*singing
*spelling and writing with a variety of materials
*scavenger hunts
*speed drills
*a variety of interactive games

Learning Goals

Learning goals will be determined based on the individual student. Students may have goals to build letter/ sound relationships, reading comprehension, blending or decoding words wit specific vowels blends or diagraphs.   Other goals might include handwriting or pre-writing skills.   The overall goal is for each student to gain a love of learning, and gain confidence in their literacy skills

Parental Guidance
Nearpod will be used for students to help stay engaged throughout the lesson. It will allow for a slideshow that the student can actively participate with. Kahoot will be used as a fun type of assessment. It will allow the students to play a game while I assess their learning. Neither sites require accounts. The students will access the material through the websites (or app) and a code given at the beginning of class join.nearpod.com or kahoot.it Students may need a 2nd device or the capability to have 2 tabs open in order to access the site or app during class.
