Class Experience

During this class, I will read a book from the Piggie & Elephant series by Mo Willems. After I complete the initial reading, we will re-read the book, giving students a chance to read (and act out) the parts in the story. This class is designed for students who are not yet able to read independently. This class will build confidence, help with prosody(reading with expression), and help with the memorization of sight words. After reading, students might be asked to share their favorite part of the book, discuss which character is their favorite, or think of an alternative ending for the book.

Hi, I specialize in teaching reading. It is my passion to introduce students to books and develop a love for reading in kids of all ages. I have a masters degree in education from Columbia University's Teachers College and a special education certificate in special education from Brooklyn College in New York City. I have worked as a peer tutor, as a test prep tutor, and as an Orton-Gillingham tutor, helping students overcome various reading difficulties to achieve their goals. I believe that every child has the potential to become an avid reader, we just have to ignite their passion and build their skills in an individualized way. I recently moved from NYC to live near the ocean. My hobbies include going to the beach, traveling, playing tennis, and or course READING!
