Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 5
"Read-In and Write-In With Teacher Cindy" is a 45-minute private class for students ages 6-11. As your child's reading buddy and writing coach, I will tailor each class to your child's interests and abilities.

A portion of the lesson will be devoted to reading. Your child will have the opportunity to choose his/her "Just Right Book" from my online library. At times, your child may need a little guidance to choose an appropriate book, so I will have a few books ready for each class. The remaining time will be devoted to writing. Depending on your child's needs, I will create an individualized writing plan for him/her. We may practise sight and high-frequency words/ tricky words, words with common patterns and words related to the book. We may practise identifying nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, and conjunctions to create a well-balanced sentence. Your child may even write a reflection on the book we read in that class. It all depends on your child.

I strongly believe that reading (decoding) and writing (encoding) are reciprocal skills, therefore, "Read-In and Write-In With Teacher Cindy" is the perfect marriage between these two arts. I intend to give your child the individualized attention needed to boost his/her confidence in becoming a well-rounded reader and effective writer.

I look forward to seeing and working with your child!
You can look forward to seeing a confident reader and successful writer!

"Read-In With Teacher Cindy" has been highly successful since August 2021. All my students are regular students. Some students read with me once a week, twice a week or even three times a week. I respect and treat each one of them like my own children. Not only have I developed a wonderful relationship with my students but I have a strong and meaningful relationship with their parents too! I am so thankful.
Recently, I've had requests from parents to include writing to "Read-In With Teacher Cindy", and the idea of "Read-In and Write-In With Teacher Cindy" materialized.
