The video game, Undertale, is a super text heavy vintage-style video game with a strong story-telling element. Before the class the students will play a certain part of the Undertale game. In this class, students will use the context to work on reading retention, and discussion. I am in no way affiliated with Undertale. I just use the passion that young people have for the game itself to help them to learn to read, and discuss stories. Here is the sections that should be played before the class. September 18th - Ruins September 25th - Snowed In Town October 2nd - Waterfalls October 16th- Hotlands October 23rd - Asgore October 30th - Costume and Cosplay share
Learning Goals
Students will improve their ability to read the text in a video game, and use that content to discuss what was read. Reading retention is often stronger in young people when they get to read about something that interests them.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello and Good Day! My name is Teacher Leiloni and I am a life long learner. This means that I love to learn new things. I have my bachelors in Education which helps me to teach my own children as well as others. I have a certificate in children's yoga. I have taught in person private classes and have been certified under the Leadership Education Mentoring Institute in Shakespeare Conquest, Key of Liberty and the Georgics class. I have also attended training to teach a Mission Hero class which teaches the scholars about heroes while learning about the Civil War through current events. My children have shown chickens through 4-H for a few years so I ended up being the poultry leader. I began my online teaching career teaching ESL to children in China as well!
I believe that children learn best when they are led by their own interests, or at least a teacher or mentor that can inspire them to gain new knowledge and passions.
