Fluently reading out loud is a skill that must be practiced to be mastered. Before class each week, the story will be posted in the classroom so students can become familiar with the text. In class, students will be assigned sections of the story to read out loud. Once we read the story out loud, we will discuss the specific words students struggled to pronounce. We'll talk about the correct pronunciation and any rules that might help them remember the spelling/pronunciation of the word. We will also work to define any unknown words using context clues. Students will then read the story aloud for a second time to work on fluency. Once we're finished reading through the story, we will answer questions about the reading.
