Read alouds have additional benefits for multi-lingual learners and children who struggle with reading: it exposes them access to age-appropriate contexts, broader vocabulary and background knowledge, and models fluency and expression.
Read alouds are great for all readers but are particularly beneficial for multi-lingual learners, ELLs, and students with Dyslexia or other special learning needs.
A optional graphic organizer for reading comprehension will be provided ahead of each session for students to take notes on the chapter based on the current comprehension skill we are working on for that chapter.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
We will play a Kahoot game during each class session. Learners do not need a separate account for this, but may need help joining the game.

Some words, phrases, paragraphs or contexts may be changed or removed from the original works. I do this with great care to maintain theme and character traits while attending to appropriateness and readability for learners at this age level.
• The Secret Garden (with some language and contexts removed)
