Class Experience

During this lesson, I will be teaching a class, which will be set up as a "mission." This mission will be super fun, engaging, and an incredible opportunity to learn and grow. To begin our session, we will chat about some of our friends from "Raya and the Last Dragon." Afterwards, we will go forth and read our riddle of the day; this is where it gets awesome! We will solve our riddle, and then learners will be prompted to read the messages sent to us from Raya and Sisu. We must help them solve the mission of the day, they really do need all of our expertise! After we practice our read-aloud skills, by reading and engaging with our story, we will then practice our writing skills by including our word of the day. Everyone will have the chance to write a sentence and share with their peers! This lesson is focused on creating cross-curricular connections, whilst also focusing on engagement with the materials and thoughtful interactions. I believe learning experiences must be fun, engaging, and wholesome! I cannot wait to share this incredible lesson with all of you. Also, Raya and Sisu are waiting, so we have no time to waste! Learning Goals

Students will engage in a mission with "Raya and the Last Dragon" characters, where they will have the opportunity to practice their reading and writing skills, whilst also furthering their knowledge. Students will improve reading and listening comprehension by participating in a read-aloud and answering relevant questions. It is going to be an awesome time!

All you will need for this lesson is a piece of paper and a writing tool (pencil or pen is suitable).

Hello everyone! My name is Helena! :)

First of all, a huge thank you to ALL of my amazing learners and families. You are all incredible, and I am so grateful for your kindness, enthusiasm and love for learning. It has been a true pleasure learning and working with you all. Virtual hugs!

I am a certified elementary and high school teacher whom absolutely loves teaching! I have an Honour's Specialization in History, French Language and Literature, and a degree in Education. I have extensively studied language acquisition and metacognition, and feel very privileged to bring this knowledge to each of my classes. My heart is learning and teaching! I have had the privilege to teach all grade levels, and have taught in both Canada and London, United Kingdom. Not only do I teach in the classroom (virtual, nowadays!) but I also teach in the dojo. Karate has been a humongous part of my life for 21 years, and it brings me so much joy to share my love for martial arts with learners from around the world!

I am fluent in English, French and Greek! From a young age, I have absolutely adored studying languages. I really excelled in environments, which were authentic in nature and allowed for me to learn in a way that was hands-on and fun. As a result, I always ensure that my classes are super engaging and an experience that will aid in confidence building!

I believe that education and learning must go far beyond the four walls of the classroom. It is a time in which all students should have the opportunity to recognize just how incredible they are in an exciting, and nurturing environment. In doing so, I hope to help students become leaders and grow their interpersonal and intrapersonal skills! As Plato said, there is a genius within every single one of us, and I am absolutely dedicated to helping others reach their full potential!

In my personal time, I love to read, write, travel, garden, listen to music (and have a dance party at the same time) and spend time with my dear family!
