US Grade 6 - 8
Great writing requires students to have a solid foundation for writing. This intensive 2-week class, teaches students how to sharpen their writing skills from the ground up. Starting with parts of speech and sentence structure, students refresh their knowledge of these basic elements before diving into paragraphs and essay writing. The class ends with an overview of research papers and digital presentations. The lessons include videos, guided notes, Blooket, online games, and practice activities. Throughout the course students will submit writing assignments for teacher feedback. The feedback includes personalized videos of the instructor reviewing submitted assignments and providing suggestions, corrections, etc. The instructor will send progress reports on Fridays if work has been completed.
Learning Goals
Students will locate and define parts of speech in written sentences
Students will recognize the elements of an essay (introduction paragraph, thesis statement, body paragraphs, and conclusion)

Review paragraphs by viewing video lesson, completing guided notes, and taking a Blooket quiz.
Lesson 4:
Paragraphs II
Practice paragraph writing by composing a well-written paragraph based on a prompt. **Submit for feedback.

Online games will be played, including Blooket. An account is not needed to play these games.
Students may type or handwrite assignments. Typed responses should be in Google Docs or Microsoft Word.
