Python Game Design: Build Your Own Thanksgiving Game (Ages 11-16)
What's included
4 live meetings
3 hrs 40 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Beginner Level
What will be taught? Students will learn Python Turtle programming to design and build a Thanksgiving game step by step. Topics covered include game screen design, movement control, collision detection, and randomized falling objects. What topics will you cover? Week 1: Session 1: Designing the game screen and backgrounds using Python Turtle. Session 2: Coding movement controls for the basket and implementing keyboard inputs. Week 2: Session 3: Creating falling feast items using randomization and timing for object movement. Session 4: Finalizing the game with collision detection and adding a score system for interactive gameplay. How is your class structured? This course consists of 4 sessions over 2 weeks, with 2 sessions per week. Each class starts with an overview of what students will build, followed by step-by-step coding to complete each part of the game. How will you teach? Students will follow along as I guide them through Python Turtle programming. I'll explain each concept and have students build their game progressively, starting with the basics and moving to more complex functions like collision detection and scoring. What’s your teaching style? I take a hands-on, interactive approach, encouraging students to code along with me and customize their games as they learn. My goal is to make programming fun, engaging, and approachable for older learners, helping them build confidence with Python. How much will learners get to interact with you? Learners will receive live feedback during each session as they build their game. There will be opportunities for Q&A and individualized assistance, especially during the more complex coding challenges.
Learning Goals
