In this course, students will learn how to build simple Python based games using programming concepts andgraphics using the Python module Turtle . Learners will create video games using Pygame module. Turtle and Pygames are 2 modules we will learn in this course to make video games along with python programming basics We will use an online editor for programming so no prior installation is needed. Lesson 1 – Setting up and getting started Understanding how to set up your account on online editors and getting started with Python basics like saving and creating a file. Lesson 2 – Turtle Graphics Understanding how to use graphics and draw things using the turtle module in python, Using the pen up and pen down Project 2 - Drawing a home Lesson 3 – Flow Controls (if-else) Day 3 Using functionalities like conditionals , elif and drawing a big field for our turtle. Lesson 4 - Turtle Graphics (loops) Day 4 and Day 5 Understanding loops and using them to make patterns in graphics Project 4 – Turtle race Create a race game to make various turtles run Lesson 5 - Lesson 5 Lists Day 6 and Day 7 The students will learn how to use a list Project 5 – Students will create a quiz game, which will ask user to provide questions and their corresponding answers. Lesson 6 – Functions , modules and OOPS Day 8 and Day 9 Understanding what is OOPS concept and how it helps us shorten the codes , the functions used Lesson 7 - Pygame Day 10 , Day 11 and Day 12 Pygame module understanding and how it helps in deigning video games . Project 7 – Students will create a program which will let the image move through the screen - working on their chase game Lesson 8 - Chase Game: Day 13 - Day 16. Project 8 – Create a carrot chase game, where the rabbit will gain 1 point for each carrot and will lose one point for each collision with fox. The game will end after the 6th collision with fox. This is an interactive class where students will learn how to make simple video games in python while building on their knowledge of pygames and turtle graphics modules . They will be asked to share the codes for debugging if needed.
Students will begin with coding basics and towards the end will be able to create their won video game.

Learners have a choice to use an online editor to save time or need to install python and vs code on their computer. For learners below 13 years of age , please install VS code on the laptop : https://code.visualstudio.com/ , as Outschool does not allow Replit for young learners. . For kids over 13 years of age, we will be using an online editor where they need a free signup using their email id. The teacher will share her screen during the class.
