Pythagorean What? A Triangle Geometry Theory Made Simple
What's included
2 live meetings
1 hrs 50 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This class will cover Common Core mathematics standard CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.8.G.B. 6, 7, & 8. The concept will be made simple, as learners will understand why the equation works and how to apply it to real life examples. Through Google Slides, interactive questions, and a Kahoot! quiz, learners will master: -Why the Pythagorean Theorem equation works -When to use the Pythagorean Theorem equation -How to use the equation to solve for the hypotenuse of a triangle -How to use the equation to solve for a 'leg' -How to rearrange the equation based on the problem presented -Real life examples of the Pythagorean Theorem (i.e. "Why do we need to learn this?!") Learners will be given a small homework assignment to work on between the two classes, as well as after the second class. During the first and second class, learners may choose to work on sample problems independently or with a peer in a Zoom breakout room.
Learning Goals
Learners will be given a small homework assignment to work on between the two classes, as well as after the second class.

Hello learners and families! I have so much gratitude for being a part of the Outschool community.
My undergraduate degree is in elementary education but I also have experience teaching in the junior high setting. I tutored grades 5-11 math for six years and enjoyed every hour I spent with the students. Though my intention was to create many math classes here on Outschool, I am finding that I love to design and teach classes that are more suited to the 'Life Skills' category. I love to break down tasks for students and empower them with academic skills that are often left out of the traditional curriculum: test-taking, studying, note-taking, etc.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy playing soccer and badminton, as well as training for long-distance running races (when there's no snow here in Canada!)
I fully believe that I will learn as much from the students as they will learn from me; I value collaboration and discussion. A question from a student is a "peek" into their brain for me.
I look forward to teaching your child!
