Pumpkin Exploration: Halloween Hands on Science!
Class experience
US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
This course will be broken into two parts. Part one, students will explore the parts of a pumpkin. This will be hands on and messy. We will use our hands to pull out pumpkin seeds, squish pulp, and feel different parts of the pumpkin. As we do this, we will be learning about the terminology for the different parts of the pumpkin (pulp, shell, stem, seeds) and learning about the pumpkin life cycle. When we are finished exploring we will conduct a science experiment by turning our pumpkin...
A small/medium sized pumpkin with the lid cut off and the insides scooped out into a separate bowl (we will use all of these parts during class). 1 part baking soda to 2 parts white vinegar ( the amounts will depend on the size of your pumpkin, you will need enough vinegar to fill your pumpkin for the explosion to overflow!) A tray to put the pumpkin on to catch the messy explosion Food coloring (optional)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
