Class Experience

In this multi-day public speaking camp, students will learn different ways we engage in public speaking, and how we speak in public. We will take 6 main points, discuss them in each class, then use an activity to reinforce what we have learned. In the 5th class, we will put it all together and give one final speech to showcase everything learned throughout the week.

NOTE: This class is not intended to teach the English Language or how to have an English conversation. This class is intended to teach students how to present in front of a group of people.

The points of public speaking that will be discussed are:
Day 1- Facial Expressions and Posture. The activity will be a game of questions students will take turns answering.
Day 2- Speech Volume and Eye Contact. The activity will be a show and tell.
Day 3- Keeping papers/books down when reading/showing things to the class. The activity will to bring your favorite book to class.
Day 4- Speech Writing. The activity will be to practice a 1 minute speech based on a topic given in class.
Day 5- Wrapping it all up and practicing all skills learned. The activity will be a picture game. A picture will be given before the final class, and student will make up a story based on the picture given. They will tell the class the story they made up using all of the public speaking skills learned that week.

Each class activity will have student appropriate questions such as favorites, their likes and dislikes, and age appropriate books/images. If for any reason a student is not comfortable answering a question, or is having difficulty with the activity, alternate assignments can be figured out for the student.

No experience necessary.

This class is meant for more than 1 student. If only 1 student is enrolled, the teacher has the right to cancel the class and issue refunds. The teacher will send a message and refunds 24 hours in advance of the first class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been actively public speaking since the age of 12. I was in a youth group that required public speaking of some form every time we met. Then in college, public speaking was a heavy part of my degree- Communications.
