Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
In this one-time class, we will learn about drugs and alcohol and the impact on the human brain. We will explore different types of drugs, including, alcohol, vaping, cigarettes, cannabis, cocaine, heroin, and prescription medications. This class is a great drug and alcohol education piece that informs the students how the human brain is impacted by each substance. We will examine the pathways in the brain in which substances travel and how the brain is altered by each substance. The class will discover how substances function and process within the different lobes of the brain. This class is structured with power-point slides that are easy to follow along with. I believe in teaching the students through experiences rather than memorization. The more the students participate and interact with fellow students and the teacher, the more we will get out of the class. I use a person-centered and positive teaching approach. All that is required of this class is to be ready to have fun. Let's have fun and dive into the complex world of the human brain!
