Class Experience

In this course students will begin diving into the basic fundamentals of the programming language Python where they will learn things from basic print statements to inputs and loops with the ultimate goal at the end of completing their own projects using what was taught during the course of the class. The class will be structured in the way that each day will start with a mini quiz meant to reiterate any important concepts from classes that were held prior and will proceed into exploring different concepts that are important for both the students to know but, for them to also use in building their text based adventure game. Students will work with me to design and ideate on how they would like their games to work (entering numbers, using inputs like users names, battling a dragon, etc.) and then begin outlining their games using Repl.it. Students will be able to collaborate with their classmates to get ideas, feedback and engagement as their games develop, and at the conclusion of the course, students will present their games and have their classmates interact with their games.
Day 1: Introduction to Python concepts (print statements, variables, inputs) where students will follow my lead as well as participate through interactive quizzes mini-projects
Day 2: Introduction to Python loops (for loops, while loops) where students will learn the importance of looping through sequences of code to get desired results
Day 3: Introduction to Python functions (math, random) and brainstorming of text-based adventure world game
Day 4: Working on finalizing and presenting the choose your own adventure games made
