Professor Kitty's Algebra 2 Quick Start Summer Boot Camp | Advanced Algebra Toolkit (Factoring, Complex Numbers, Exponents, Quadratics)
We get your learner going with quadratic equations and graphs, factoring, complex and imaginary numbers, and laws of radicals and exponents. This is perfect for students starting Algebra 2 or students who are well into their Algebra 2 course and need to retrace the fundamentals to improve their performance.

This is an Algebra 2 high school math course. Specifically, this boot camp can also serve as the first third of the complete Algebra 2 course. Upon completion, learners will be ready to take the second part of this class. This is an Algebra 2 high school math course which uses Nearpod for drills and assessments. These assessments work in conjunction with my Algebra 2 content courses. In this first trimester of Algebra 2, learners will learn about quadratic equations and graphs, factoring,...
At the end of this trimester, learners will be able to evaluate and work with quadratic equations, factor, work with complex numbers, and apply laws of exponents and radicals.
I've been certified in the public schools for teaching math in middle and high schools. I received additional certified training for gifted and talented learners. I taught math for sixteen years and I've been a personal SAT tutor for seven years. My students have typically raised their scores between 100 and 300 points. As a chemical engineer and project management professional in the world of business consulting and information technology consulting, I've completed over five levels of college calculus and applied mathematics and used these math and computing skills throughout my career. The students I have taught had varying learning abilities that ranged from one with pronounced learning disabilities to gifted and talented. When it came to PSAT's and SAT's, each of them with impressive improvements in their scores. It can be done! I used a focused approach. We honed in on trouble areas, really understood the underlying math concept, and drilled for mastery.
Homework Offered
Homework is required and is consistent in every lesson. I teach to mastery and explain every problem done in class carefully. Homework will always be to go back through the recording for any concepts or problem solves that a student doesn't feel 100% clear on. Review these problems, practice them again until they become extremely clear. Doing a few problems well is far more valuable than doing many more problems without clear understanding.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
The learner's progress is assessed by how well the learner participates in the interactions during class.Grades Offered

This is an Algebra 2 high school math boot camp will have learners well prepared to excel at Algebra 2 for the coming school year. This course uses Nearpod for drills and assessments. Learners will learn about quadratic equations and graphs, factoring, graphing, complex and imaginary number, and laws of radical and exponents. I will teach each concept thoroughly and take the time to address questions and make sure I assess each learner and whether they are tracking with the topics. I will be available to help students who need additional support. The Outschool classes which provide the instruction and tutoring for this course are listed below. Session 1 Functions, Interval Notation, Domain and Range Session 2 Parent Functions and Transformations Session 3 Simplify Radicals Session 4 Laws of Exponents and Multiplying Polynomials Session 5 Factoring with GCF and Factoring Trinomials Session 6 Advanced Trinomial Factoring Session 7 Forms of a Quadratic & Zero Product Rule Session 8 Complex Numbers & Completing the Square Session 9 Pulling it together with Quadratic Graphs Frequently Asked Questions: What should the learner expect during a session? I will take a practice study guide for the assessment and walk through part of all of it depending on how quickly the class wants to move. Is there homework? Homework is required and is consistent in every lesson. Nearpod links will be given that direct the learner to an interactive guided practice of skills that will ready them for assessment. Are there assessments? There is a minimum of one assessment per week. The overall course grade, if one is needed by the parent, is the average of all of these assessments. Assessments are done through Nearpod. Nearpod does not send the parents test reports and learners are accountable to print their score sheet and deliver these to the parents with the week number marked. There is a reminder of this built into each assessment and connected to a small extra credit earned by the student for their agreement to accept that accountability. That system has worked well with previous sections of this course and students build responsibility that way. What if my student misses class- are there make-up classes? Students who are not able to make class have access to the recordings. What happens if no one shows up? That usually doesn’t happen, especially if the minimum enrollment of the class has been met. That’s good news because group dynamics and interaction between learners and the teacher are critical to a successful class. If learners do not arrive in class according to Outschool's standard for a viable participation (10 minutes), I will leave the classroom, according to Outschool's policy.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Hello, Outschool parents and learners! I have nearly all 5 out of 5 ratings because I'm known for the kind of caring and high energy math instruction that really gets learners understanding math from the inside out. So welcome to my classes! ...
