In this crash course for the iPad app Procreate, students will learn how to navigate Procreate to create their own calligraphy, animations, and detailed drawings. This class will be fast paced in order to cover the main features and provide students to play around with them independently. Throughout the lesson, I will demo a feature then provide time for students to try it out. During the last half hour of the class, students will have a chance to apply what they learned by making their own creations and have a chance to share out. This course will mainly be teacher driven, but will have opportunities for students to collaborate and practice using the app together. No background knowledge is needed for this course. Please note: This class will be rescheduled or canceled if minimum student enrollment is not met within 5 hours of class start time.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to use the main features of Procreate: adding and modifying layers, selecting and modifying brushes, selecting colors, adding photos, changing proportions, animating gifs, shading, and exporting.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, my name is Christine!
I am an upper elementary teacher with a passion for nurturing creative and critical thinkers.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy cooking, sailing, practicing yoga, and traveling. I have explored all over New England, trying to find the perfect lobster roll and best mountain to ski. I am originally from South Florida and moved from Charlotte, North Carolina to Boston, Massachusetts in 2018.
I am in my eighth year as an educator and my third year of teaching fourth grade at a progressive, independent school in Boston. I am passionate about developing a dynamic curriculum that is based in research and keeps students curiously engaged through play and discovery.
Over my career, I have specialized in academically gifted and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) education with upper elementary and middle school age students. At my current school, my classroom instruction has been enriched by their emphasis on progressive education through Reggio and social justice-inspired principles. Integration of experiential learning and examination of equitable perspectives is put into practice through my development of thematic learning and STEAM-based courses.
In all I do, I hope to guide students to learn from mistakes and feel confident in sharing their ideas.
