As an artist and mother of children who love to create, this class is designed for learners between the ages of 9-14 who are looking to learn how to design their own digital drawings and paintings using the iPad app, Procreate. The classes will take place in smaller class settings to allow for questions and conversation between learners. This will allow for learners to get an in depth understanding of the platform, allowing them to create well beyond the classroom. Learners will not be required to have any previous knowledge. During class learners will learn: - How and why to create different canvas sizes - Choosing a brush or different medium and all that are available - How and why to add layers to their artwork - Importing a file or photo; as well as how to add it privately (so that it does not show up in the final video of their process) - Colour selection - Saving their file as well as their process video - Different file types and why they are important - Shortcuts within the app This class is all about creativity and freedom to create. As their teacher I will show them the basic skills needed to continue to create beyond their wildest dreams. Each student needs to come to class prepared with: - an iPad, separate from the device they are taking class on - a stylus pen (Amazon has many great options for good prices); you DO NOT need an Apple Pencil - Procreate App ($9.99+ depending on currency of your country) - a chosen picture already saved in the camera roll of the iPad - a smile and their imagination

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello there!
My name is Emile Power and I cannot wait to meet your learner! I am a stay-at-home mom to three daughters, live in Toronto, ON and have nine years of teaching experience. I earned my bachelor's degree in Sociology and Psychology through Laurentian University as well as a TESOL and TEFL certificates. After tutoring privately for many years for ages 3-18, I began teaching ESL in the online classroom. I have been teaching ESL online for over two years now and absolutely love the online classroom! I have a multitude of experience working with children with disabilities including but not limited to ADHD, Autism, Down Syndrome and learning disabilities. My classroom is a place of accessibility so please do not hesitate to ask for accommodations or let me know how I can help your child succeed.
My teaching style is student centered and engaging. I like to focus on bringing learning to life through activities. I have always been a hands on learner and watching my daughters learn as well it seems to stick better when they can get their hands dirty. My classes will always include creating. We will work through concepts like math, reading and comprehension through creating and using our imagination. I will be focusing on comprehension, creativity and imagination in my classes for all ages. I will have classes designed for specific age groups to ensure all learners can participate in an atmosphere that suits their learning level and needs.
Life lessons are so important and creating a classroom environment to learn them in a fun way is always my goal. Using the creative side of the brain allows for different retention of material as well as a new outlet for growth and development.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have and make sure to follow my profile for upcoming classes.
I always offer financial support as well if needed. Please do not hesitate to ask, I want my classes to be accessible to everyone.
