In this exciting class for 3rd and 4th graders, we’ll focus on strengthening reading comprehension by learning how to identify problems and solutions in stories. Understanding problems and solutions is key to becoming a better reader because it helps us follow the action, understand characters' choices, and grasp how stories are resolved. These skills also make it easier to summarize texts and build critical thinking. We’ll begin with an introductory video followed by a fun writing activity to get everyone thinking. Next, we’ll dive into Reading 1, where learners will watch a video introducing the text, read the story, and then engage in a writing activity and complete a worksheet to identify the problem and solution using a 4-step process. A follow-up video will reinforce these concepts. For Reading 2, students will again watch a short video, read the text, and complete a worksheet to continue practicing their skills. By the end of the class, learners will have worked through two stories, completed writing activities, and developed a stronger ability to recognize how problems and solutions drive stories forward. If you have any questions, feel free to message me—I’d be happy to help! I look forward to meeting you soon!
