Class Experience

In this live class, your student will be given individualized one-on-one instruction. It can be designed for students who would like to learn how to use the sewing machine, learn basic sewing skills and begin sewing projects. As students progress, or if a student already has mastered these skills, we will figure on intermediate or advanced sewing topics and skills such as zipper application, button and buttonholes, collars, etc. We'll decide together what projects will be best to work on together to grow their knowledge and skills.

Students will have some work to do outside of class. This could include pattern or fabric preparation, completing an online assignment or an online quiz.

During class I will teach them specific new skills and techniques related to projects by doing samples as well as helping direct their protects.

    Teacher expertise and credentials
My passion for sewing goes hand in hand with teaching. Helping others learn the art of sewing either as a hobby or future career is my goal. I teach ages 7+ beginner classes, starting with threading a machine and building techniques to work toward sewing Independence through projects and samples. I have several private students who work on intermediate and advanced protects.

I previously taught high school sewing and fashion design for 7 years before stepping away to be a stay at home mom. I still love to share knowledge with others so teaching on Outschool has been a perfect fit

I believe people learn best through experience so my classes are project based. Each project has specific techniques that we will focus on mastering that can applied to future projects. Some projects require a prerequisite course to ensure specific knowledge is acquired for success.

A fun side note- Although I continue to teach, I also do custom clothing and alterations on the side. I've created fun costumes like Princess Peach and Princess Jasmine dresses and even a Zelda recreation!
