Private Tutoring: Speaking/Reading/Writing by Native German University Professor

In private sessions students have the opportunity to receive undivided support to sharpen their language skills. My primary teaching style is full immersion. I design entirely focused on the specific goals, skill level and interest of the student. Private sessions are more intense than classes. In a beginner's German class the students will have fun learning a wide range of basic German vocabulary and phrases.  They will also learn important cultural, geographical and historical concepts related to Germany and the German language. The focus will be on language comprehension and taking any fear of becoming confident German communicators, readers and writers from the start. We will also hold mini presentations in German. 

With advanced students I will focus on strengthening the student's weak points (be it pronunciation, grammar or simply confidence) and increasing speaking, writing and reading skills as well as on attaining larger vocabulary in their fields of interest.

I am a very compassionate, encouraging and fun loving teacher and it is a joy to continuously see my students gain confidence in their speaking ability and pronunciation.

About me: I have obtained my BA in Linguistics from a German university and my MA from a U.S. university. I have been tutoring and teaching in various classroom and private settings for the past 20 years - including language institutes, public charter schools and private schools. I am also in the pool of adjunct faculty for my local community college.

I speak high German (no dialect) and enjoy hearing my students develop an accent-free German, naturally by listening to me speak and by hearing themselves repeat German phrases till they become natural to them.  

Every class will begin with a review of the previous class. We will practice and reinforce what we learnt before we go into the new material.
