In this 1:1 reading language arts class, we will read and discuss excellent novels to strengthen students' reading comprehension skills. First, we choose a novel to read, discuss, and analyze together. Personalized instruction tailored to meet each student's needs allows learners to progress at their own pace. Literature is invaluable for learners in gaining knowledge and feeling understood. Through universal themes such as family, friendship, loyalty, and empathy, books help readers connect with others and themselves. Students will be engaged in each meeting discussing the chapters assigned for class. Learners will examine literary elements, including plot, characters, setting, point of view, figurative language, and vocabulary, to better understand the book. I also provide activities in the classroom to extend and reinforce your learning experience. Students may play a fun interactive Kahoot at the end of each class to assess text comprehension. Other skills that may be addressed in these meetings are grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and writing! Please message me if you'd like more information or would like to request a class time to suit your schedule. Just so you know, classes are charged on the Sunday before the lesson. If you need to skip a week, kindly let me know before the charge goes through on Sunday. I would be happy to simply not schedule a class for that week, and you will not be charged. For last-minute changes, I am usually able to offer a make-up lesson (pending availability) with at least 24 hours notice. Teacher expertise and credentials
Georgia Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
As a licensed teacher specializing in Reading, I have had the opportunity to support and engage students with diverse learning needs. My experience has enabled me to develop a strong understanding of different instructional strategies to ensure that all students have the skills necessary for academic success. I am passionate about creating a positive classroom environment that is both supportive and engaging, where students feel comfortable sharing their ideas and participating in discussions. With my expertise in Reading instruction, I strive to help each student develop a lifelong love for reading while achieving academic goals.
My passion is literature. I believe stories make concepts more palpable to children. Stories can teach readers valuable lessons, make them laugh, and see things from a different perspective, or take them somewhere new!
When I have time, I like to travel, experience different cultures, and learn the history of people and places. I am also an animal lover! I have two dogs, have worked with animal rescues, and fostered cats and dogs for years.
If you are interested in a class and don't see a time that meets your needs, please send me with your time request. I look forward to meeting your learner in class!
