Class experience
These classes are designed for absolute beginner level Spanish students to students who have already been learning Spanish for some time. Lessons and topics will be created based off of your child's interests and homework will be provided weekly in order for your child to review and practice vocabulary and/or concepts. Videos will also be provided to parents to review and share with students for vocabulary listening exercises (videos may also be sent directly to students, if parents...
This class is taught in Spanish.
This depends on the parents' and students' goals. For those who would like their children to have a good understanding of Spanish and have the ability to speak Spanish well within a year or two, it will be necessary to assist your child outside of class (practicing and reviewing vocabulary with your child, completing optional homework provided, watching tv/movies in Spanish and/or listening to stories in Spanish, rewatching classes, etc.). For those who simply would like to introduce their children to Spanish and help them get started, we will focus on learning vocabulary and basic grammar, but there will not be as much of a focus of attaining goals--simply having fun (but learning in the process).
I have a Bachelor's Degreee in Spanish Language & Literature and in previous jobs, I communicated with individuals in Spanish on a daily basis. I studied Spanish in high school and college and struggled to understand or speak Spanish (although I could do the written work just fine), until I studied abroad for a semester in Spain. It was there that I began to see the benefit of immersive learning and using the language constantly (repetition) in order to learn the language well.
Homework Offered
Homework will be provided, but will not be required. Again, depending on the goals of the parents, more or less homework will be provided for children to complete in order to review the lessons from class.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Assessment will be provided upon request in a manner that is preferred by parents.Grades Offered
Because these classes are designed for the student, they will be designed in a manner that is best suited for the student, although learning a language can, at times, be frustrating and/or intimidating!
Hola! My name is Kathleen, but my Spanish-speaking friends know me as Katalina. I offer Spanish classes through immersion (students will hear mainly Spanish and very little English), as this is how I have learned languages best. I also offer...
