Class Experience

In this class, your student will learn how to implement different art techniques into their work. We will work together to develop a lesson plan that suits your student's levels and interests. I will work with your elementary and middle school student in the basic to intermediate drawing principles and techniques.

:)PLEASE CONTACT FOR PERSONALIZED SCHEDULING :)
At the start of each session, we will:
-review the topic
-talk about what we want to accomplish
-instruction
-plan of action for practicing during the week

I will provide examples and show students how to complete tasks or problems. Students will then be given time to begin working on their tasks on their own with my guidance.

It is an ongoing private lesson, so it is essential to know your child's interest before the start of the class so we can work together, but here are some templated classes that we can use:
-Sketching or Pencil
-Mindful Art
-Anime or Manga Pencil Drawing
-Landscapes
-Still Life
-Figures

Students will have the opportunity to:
-learn some basic to intermediate techniques for drawing through doodles and sketching
-learn to be accepting of challenges in different techniques with a compassionate inner voice
-learn to use mindfulness as a way to understand that artistic voice
-learn from one another collaboratively and ask questions
-learn to accept getting messy and making mistakes as a way to experiment with finding their voice
-learn the basic understand of body portions
-learn art fundamentals and drawing topics such as value, shading, texture, and perspective

My teaching styles can range from collaborative lecture and discussion to games, slides, and video clips, depending on the student's needs. I try my best to make our tutoring sessions engaging and interactive.

A blank page can serve as a vast playing field for the brain. It allows kids to revise and improve upon creative thoughts and ideas. Students can use pencils, markers, crayons, and anything else to spark joy in the picture. Students should use a blank piece of paper or a journal.

To meet the learner's needs, parents are encouraged to message details regarding where their child needs additional assistance or a subject taught at least 48 hours before the scheduled tutoring session. This includes any comments and questions you may have before the tutoring session. Learners can be enrolled in as many sessions that are needed to support their academic needs.

If you don't see a time that works with your schedule, please send me a message or request.

Please email me if you have any questions.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Rhode Island College
I have several years of experience with art teaching in Coops, homeschool, and private tutoring. I try to incorporate mindfulness and creativity into all of my classes.

My teaching philosophy is that all students are individuals and unique learners that must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. I desire to create this type of atmosphere where students can meet their full potential. I will provide a safe environment where students can share their ideas and where mistakes are considered educational victories.
