Class Experience

Does your student struggle with some math concepts and needs individualized training? This tutoring session will help students gain confidence with a variety of math concepts (based on parent's discussion with the teacher) at their own pace and speed. Parents can expect the class to be a positive experience for their child.

During ongoing class, students will receive individualized mathematics teaching in this one on one setting. I have used several strategies in a public elementary school to teach a variety of math and reading concepts for 18 years in grades 3rd through 5th. I have taught children with Autism, Learning Disabilities, and General Education students. Parents can let me know the concept that their learner struggles with and I will create a specialized lesson for your child.

To teach the math concepts, I will present a strategy using an "I do" method. Then, I will do a guided approach using a "We do" method. The guided part of the lesson will be the bulk of the learning where I ask questions and fade out any help I am giving. During this part of the lesson, I might use videos, google slides, interactive worksheets, games, the whiteboard feature, or scratch paper. This depends on the concepts being taught. By the end of the class, the learner will show the teacher the "You do" part of the method where they will individually solve problems, with the teacher ready to help as needed.

I will use google slides, nearpod, games, etc to keep students motivated and engaged during our tutoring session.

This session is ongoing one time every week.
