Whether a budding beginner or intermediate player seeking to master the nuances of classical and jazz, my private lessons are tailored to each student and their unique talents. Each week is designed to help progress the student's playing.

Class experience

US Grade 5 - 12
Beginner - Advanced Level
Foundation is key! Students will improve their fundamentals on the saxophone as well as basic music theory that will ultimately help them throughout their entire journey as a musician and saxophonist.
Advanced players will work on repertoire and artistic expression. Whether it's for a competition or for All-State auditions, I am here to provide my expertise on repertoire, extended techniques, and essential practice skills.
Since 2015, my journey as an educator has been deeply rooted in music instruction, with a focus on private lessons since 2016. My teaching career took flight at the Sitka Fine Arts Camp, where I served as the instructor for a jazz combo, saxophone quartet, and various chamber woodwind groups. In 2020, I expanded my teaching repertoire to the online realm through Outschool, catering to both in-person and virtual students while pursuing my university studies.

Following the completion of my bachelor's degree in music, I continued my teaching venture at Artworks in Santa Fe. This role not only involved instructing students but also included a teacher training unit and engagements with public schools. My performance background is equally extensive, encompassing pivotal roles at the University of New Mexico—serving as the principal of Wind Symphony, lead alto in the top jazz band, and contributing to various graduate quartets and sextets.

Beyond the university setting, I have showcased my musical prowess with esteemed ensembles such as the New Mexico Philharmonic, Albuquerque Jazz Orchestra, and the Jazz on the Waterfront Big Band. Additionally, I had the honor of presenting an alumni recital at UNM, featuring myself and another accomplished alumnus. My dedication to both teaching and performance reflects a multifaceted commitment to fostering musical excellence and sharing the joy of music with students and audiences alike.
Homework Offered
Each week at the lesson, student's will be assigned a number of tasks to be completed before the next time I see them. Every student will have a different number of tasks depending on their playing level and their goals. This is about making progress on playing–I am not interested in checking for correctness. I am interested in how the tasks contribute to their progress!
