Mary Oliver, Walt Whitman, TS Eliot, Maya Angelou, Emily Dickinson... the list goes on and on. All wonderful poets who started... as students. My degree is in creative writing but I specialized in poetry. I took every single poetry class the school offered and loved it. I have my own poetry pending publication now and I'm in several writing workshop groups to this day. 

This course is a relaxed, fun, and 'out of the box thinking' environment where students will read and write poetry! 

Class is structured where we learn about one new poet, read their work, learn a new poetry skill, and practice writing our own. One of the best skills you can adopt is reading the works of other poets. Learning what makes their voice stand out, what things publishers look for, and how to create strong imagery.
