Beginner Level
In private piano lessons, students will learn to play the piano while developing their music literacy skills. My lessons are structured around piano method books, guiding the student through a logical progression of skills. If you are looking for a unstructured/free-form lesson format, this class is probably not for you. Lessons will cover fundamental music topics, including confidently reading notes on the treble and bass staff, rhythm, dynamics, articulation, and tempo. Each class meeting typically begin with a review of the homework songs, followed by the introduction of new material and homework songs for the coming week. With the student's device at the end of the piano, it almost feels like an in-person lesson! Lessons are tailored to the student's individual learning style and level of experience. This class is suitable for complete beginners, as well as students with some prior experience. My teaching style is very flexible, supportive, and positive. I give my students space to explore and make mistakes, but I also encourage them to hold themselves to a high standard and do their best. My motto is "progress, not perfection."
