Beginner - Intermediate Level
Learner will explore the world of playing piano from Carol Matz's Interactive Piano Method. There is a lesson book with corresponding online materials for the learner to use. This is a private lesson with one on one instruction. Learners will constantly interact with the teacher. No experience is needed to take a course. It is desired to have a piano but it is perfectly ok to also use a keyboard. We will use Book Level 1 A Unit 1: We will learn--steady beats, quarter notes and explore black key groups and play songs to reinforce that. Unit 2: Bar Lines and Measure, half notes, dynamics, and whole note. Unit 3: Time Signature, Damper Pedal, notes C, D, and E on the piano. Piano pieces and games and activities to reinforce. Unit 4: Quarter rest, G and A on the piano, F and B on the piano. Pieces and songs and activities to reinforce new concepts. Unit 5: : Steps, Dotted Half notes, mp dynamics, half rest. Games, activities and online activities to reinforce new concepts. Unit 6: Staff Lines, Clefs, and the Grand Staff, Middle C on the staff and the whole rest, Treble G on the Staff, Tempo and Tempo Markings, Bass F on the Staff. Songs, activities online to reinforce the learning. Unit\ 7: Right Hand D E and F on the Staff Unit 8: Left Hand B and A on the staff Unit 9: Skips Bass C and D on the staff and Octave Unit 10: Left Hand E on the Staff and Ties In each unit there are games, activities and songs to reinforce the learning.
