Homework
1-2 hours per week. I recommend students spend at least 1 hour a week practicing between lessons.Assessment
Students can receive an assessment by parent request.Class Experience
Learning a musical instrument is fun, fulfilling, and challenging. Through music lessons, students explore a wide variety of musical styles and sounds, and learn how to express and interpret emotions. It's easy to learn when you are having fun! That's why we teach the fundamentals of music through the songs that students love. Some of the concepts we will learn are: Proper playing posture How to hold, tune, and take care of our instruments How to play exercises and familiar songs to warm up the hands How to play major scales and arpeggios Proper bow hold and bowing technique How to play your favorite songs and have fun on your instrument!
Learning Goals
We will work together to set individual goals for each student. Progress depends on the amount of practice outside of lessons that students do. I believe it is important to master one concept before moving on to another, and let the learner set the pace.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Students may need help getting set up for lessons and tuning their instruments before class.
Supply List
Student must have their own violin of the appropriate size and a bow. It's also suggested that students have their instruments tuned before class. You may need an electronic tuner or tuning app, or to take the violin to a violin shop to be set up. You may also need finger tape to be installed for correct finger placement.
