Homework
1-2 hours per week. For learning an instrument, I recommend about 15 - 30 minutes of practice or more, 3 to 5 days per week. The more days you practice and review lesson material, the faster you will level up your skills.Assessment
I use informal evaluation, as the student is progressing, and communicate how they are doing with themClass Experience
Get $5 off my classes with coupon code CYAKELETSCREATE5 until Jan 1, 2025. This class will be individualized for your level. Beginners are welcome, as well as intermediate players. This is a one time class that you can take as many times as you like. If you take the class again, we will continue where we left off in the last class. I teach rock music, pop songs, folk songs, and other popular music that you like. I use all my own materials for class. You do not need to buy any books. This is a casual and relaxed environment, that encourages learning and builds self esteem. Music is fun, and learning an instrument helps to build learning skills that carry over into other areas. My teaching style is relaxed and fun. This is a hands on class, so the student will play and practice what we are learning. I will post song sheets and other notes, in the Outschool classroom, after the class has finished. This is a hands on class, so the student will be encouraged to play and practice the songs. I teach some basic improvising, and the student will experience how to improvise a lead, using a basic five note scale. I will show them how to play the chords, and riffs on my guitar, so they can follow along. They can go at their own pace. I use the Zoom screen share and the white board, to support the lesson we are learning. I sometimes play a song in youtube, so that they can hear how it goes, and play along with the song. I use a second device to play youtube songs, so that there is an extra screen for the music audio. I will help the student as we go along, to be able to play the chords, riffs and other things we are working on. I often slow things way down, until they get it, and then they gradually increase the tempo, at their own pace.
