Assessment
There will only be informal assessments such as observation for this introductory class.Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 4
In this introductory session, I will begin with a greeting and some gentle questions to get a feel for student interests and thoughts about reading and writing. I will use warm, encouraging, and positive communication throughout the lesson. The lesson will begin with brainstorming words from a picture and choosing a skill to work on based on the words shaken out and observation of the learner. We will then do some word work using letter cards (provided by the teacher and printed prior to class), a white board, or pencil and paper. The student will then generate and write a sentence or two about the picture (or a draw a picture if that is appropriate for the level of writing development). Families are encouraged to share relevant information or data and questions with me prior to class.
Learning Goals
Students will experience private tutoring and determine with their families if this class and teacher would be a good match for ongoing one-to-one instruction.
