Does your child struggle with English? Do they refuse to attend academies or extra-curriculars at school? These are all very understandable concerns for parents. Do not fret! As a certified teacher of over four years, I have been met with a majority of students who fear English (or are simply uninterested in it). It is more common than you think!

The pivotal moment of learning a new language comes at an early age. That is not to say you cannot learn a second or third language later on in life. However, studies have shown that kindergarten to early elementary school is the time to set a solid linguistic foundation for future success.

This one-on-on class will do just that: build a firm foundation for future fruition! In the first lesson, I will assess and evaluate the student's English capabilities. Your child's "input" and "output" capabilities will be closely examined as many new learners tend to gravitate towards one form of learning, at first. But you can rest assured that their English will improve substantially in these two areas:

(1) Input: reading comprehension, sight reading, vocabulary, listening comprehension, social stories, and more.

(2) Output: read aloud, free speaking, writing, typing, and more.

For students with beginner English, we will focus on rudimentary exercises such as matching games, repeat-after-me, categorization activities, and the like! With intermediate to advanced learners, we will engage in discussions and partake in assignments that require higher order thinking and direct application such as writing fictional narratives or answering questions about informational texts. My teaching style is student-centric, so these tutoring sessions will be all about discovery, collaboration, practical learning, and confidence-building!
