Class Experience
US Grade Preschool - 7
Beginner - Advanced Level
This is a unique drawing class in which we will learn and practice basic English vocabulary through drawing. Depending on the student, writing may also be incorporated into the drawing in the form of labeling, completing sentence starters, and writing sentences. This class is designed for ELL and ESL students, and it is open to students of all drawing levels. During each class we will create a fun drawing using simple geometric shapes and colors to draw everyday objects, animals, or places. I will guide students through the drawing process, and students are free to add their own details and interpretation of the subject matter. As we draw together, students are encouraged to identify and discuss what is in their drawings, or to make suggestions about what to draw. We will name objects and details throughout the drawing process. For example, we might draw a train while learning about rectangles. As we draw together, we will talk about the characteristics of a train, and what other details we might want to add, such as train tracks, windows, trees, sun. CLASS STRUCTURE: - Slide presentation (may include vocabulary, shapes, pictures) -Draw and Discuss -Share MATERIALS: -White paper or Drawing Pencil -Pencil or Black Marker -Something to color with (crayons, markers, colored pencils) Example of lessons (shape/subject matter): Circle- Ants Triangle- Rocket Ship Square- Robots Oval- Fish Rectangle- Train Heart- Tree with Leaves Semi-Circle- Bird Diamond- Kites Triangle- Sailboat It is important for me that the classroom environment is fun and relaxed.
